Context

Dates that have passed or are close

  • AAP 2.4 left maintenance on 30 June 2026. Red Hat recommends moving to AAP 2.6, and RHEL 8 hosts must move to RHEL 9 first. RPM installs end after 2.6, so deployments move to containers. Red Hat announcement.
  • RHEL 7 left maintenance on 30 June 2024. Extended Life-cycle Support (ELS) runs to 31 May 2029 and covers only critical vulnerabilities (CVSS 7 or higher). Red Hat FAQ.

Scope

What I review

  • RHEL and AAP versions and their end-of-support dates.
  • Patching strategy and status, including Red Hat Satellite if it is part of the estate.
  • AAP inventories, credentials and execution environments.
  • Playbook quality: idempotency, secrets handling and testing.
  • Risks of moving to AAP 2.6 and RHEL 9.
Deliverables

What you receive

If you then want the plan carried out, we do it as an Ansible sprint with a fixed scope.

A report prioritised by risk and effort.
A 90-day upgrade plan.

Fit

Who it is for

Linux teams with RHEL 7 or 8 servers or AAP 2.4 or 2.5 who need an order of priorities and a realistic plan, not a hundred-page audit.

I don't offer on-call or day-to-day administration: the review ends with a plan that your team or a separate sprint carries out.
